An exhibition of clay sculpture works in Nanjing

Nanjinghas kicked off 2012 with an exhibition of clay sculpture works created by renowned folk artist Zhu Jingwei. It’s being held at the city’s Ming Dynasty Imperial Palace.

Cotton fluffing, watching an open-air movie, buying fluffy chicks, a scene from a barbershop....

A wide variety of colloquial snapshots of days-gone-by in Nanjing.

These everyday scenes have been vividly brought to life by clay sculptor, Zhu Jingwei.

Zhu jingwei, Folk Artist,said, "I want to show people scenes of daily life in the Old Nanjing. The things depicted in my clay sculptures are rarely seen nowdays."

There’s even a special "Dragon Boat Racing" recreation, to symbolize 2012 - the year of the dragon.

"The dragon is very symbolic in Chinese culture. And in this year of the dragon, I wish everyone a fruitful year." Zhu said.

The gallery is also showing works by painter Ma Shuguang (马曙光) , which depict Nanjing’s famous tourist attractions.

The exhibition at the Ming Dynasty Imperial Palace in Nanjing runs until Thursday.
