I am the lucky dog because of my job. Before came into the college, I never thought I would work in tourism industry, my dream is becoming a journalist before my 19 yrs old.

 

I chose the tourism management as my major during my campus life by an odd coincidence. Follow a rational line I became a sales representative of Top China Travel in Jul06, 2004 after graduated from the college. At the first 3 yrs, this job is fresh and I put lots of energy on it. Working overtime is potluck for me. Seem from my boss and colleague, I am a workaholic. But for me, I find pleasure in it. The most distinction of my job is, all the clients are going to travel with good mood. They are expecting a fantastic vacation from me. Based on that, the communication between my clients and I is easy, positive and friendly.

 

By working over 5 yrs here, I recognized thousands of clients. I couldn’t remember each one of them. But I still remember:

Aury, the manager of a travel agency in India. He was the first one to tell me, price is not the matter, the most important thing is quality. When every agent from India asked me for good price, he reminded me to pay attention for the service quality, it is highly commendable. Sadly, Aury died because of malaria after a trip to Africa. I cried after hearing this news. Aury is on my MSN list, but he never come up anymore. Although I couldn’t receive his call anymore, he is in my heart forever.

 

Peter, come from Switzerland. He and his wife would like to visit me during their stay in my city. Unluckily, the day he wanted to meet me just meet with the Olympic Torch Relay here, the road was blocked and he couldn’t come to my office. We lost the chance to recognize with each other. But after he back home, he was keeping touch with me, sending me the nice pictures of Switzerland, the pictures when he is skiing, all those let me feel closer to him, just like we have had met with each other in Guilin.

 

 

Steven, a mammal amateur from Australia, he was communicating with me for his 30 days trip to Yunnan for bird observing for several weeks. Finally, he didn’t choose our service because we are new agent for him, he would like to choose back the agent which served him when he came to China 2 years ago. He posted me a T shirt which has the advertisement to protect the bird, and also delivered an emu model to me. He wrote a long article for his bird exploring trip to Yunnan and shared his experience with me. From his passion for mammals, I know that there are still a big big world except the society of human being.

 

Amira, a lovely girl from a travel agent in Egypt, we worked with each other for nearly 2 years. Although we also have quarrel during the cooperation, but after working time, we are good friends as we have the similar age. We exchanged our idea for the standard of excellent man, we shared our routine life as a girl. Finally, she left her company and became an office secretary of a factory. She never worked in tourism industry anymore, but we are still friends.

 

Work as a trip advisor is not an easy thing. I have to work overtime frequently after my working hours. But no matter how tired I feel after the long-hours work, if the client say, “ Janet, we really have a fantastic trip in China!” Then I feel all my work is pay. My enthusiasm of the work is coming from every lovely client. They come from the different countries, they show me a different world besides China, they are all my friends, I really want to show them a good and real China.
