The Homeless I know ( Joe)

Recently, in China we have been collecting donations for the homeless caused the natural disasters. In our city we seem to have quite a few of those similar people who do not have a roof over their heads. Almost from day to day we see them in rags walking on the high way, begging by kowtow, cladding shabby clothes with babies either being carried or sitting by the side.

But don't they want to live that way? I bet some do. Many of them are honest, hard working people who have simply lost their jobs or impoverished people who can't afford a living for the family and do need a help out. But talking about locally homeless, here I find most of them are handicapped man beggars, looking like they are pretty much organized, and now some women beggars, even little girls and boys are seen to have joined the group. Those adult-looking guys are actually families with children of outlanders. So are the young ones, who are told to work for the old ones through bothering tourists to buy flowers by force. In general, many of them are mentally ill, unqualified for any jobs available. Despite the fact, they shouldn’t cheat to beg in various dirty tricks.  Their begging performance is so bad that at times they make passers-by scarcely believe they are the true homeless.

Honestly, I kind of doubt whether they are real beggars or the homeless from stricken regions.  As far as I know, many such persons refuse to seek refuge at rescue missions or homeless shelters. They used to beg for food and sleep in the streets. Nowadays they spend money solicited on budget luxury --- staying in the hotel, a much better and jealous way of life. The most incredible thing I’ve ever heard is they can afford any big feasts in the decent restaurants once they like. Indubitably, those homeless beggars could have made big money. Therefore, in my opinion it should never be surprised to know there are no poor homeless beggars under heaven. Oh, my holly cow! I wish my money wouldn't have been donated to those homeless guys living in the cozy places.

I absolutely believe that they are provided with lots of aid given for gratis by our government. Yet, they don't feeling like being sent back to their hometown in the worst way. Obviously, begging in our touristy city is thought of as a shortcut to make a fortune by such none-native homeless.

As a matter of fact, I love to offer my help to those genuine homeless people who have lost jobs, their houses, their families, their health, and their self-esteem. All they need is just another chance. A lot of them were just like you and me --- they never thought it could happen to them. I guess most of us have taken a lot of blessings for granted. God bless them and us too!
